It’s hard to believe it’s January here in my corner of the world. Instead of several feet of snow, we’ve seen inches. The temperatures hover upwards of 50 degrees on some days. Everything is off kilter around here…the weather, the animals, my household. Life has been anything but boring. I got married the week before Christmas (check out my FB for photo’s) , managed to get through Christmas and the New Year unscathed and then this…. Believe it or not, we have had 5 extra people move into our household in the past month- my son from out of state and my stepson and his family. Might I say it is quite…well to put it bluntly…distracting. Even with all of these adults around there is still some confusion as to who’s turn it is to do the dishes or anything else that sounds like labor. Who tends to the kids? Do these “Big Kids” never grow up? Between screaming kids and driving people around (one doesn’t have a liscense right now) I have very little time nor concentration available to do much on the Internet at the moment. Or perhaps it’s Adult ADD…. The only thing to do was to choose my priorities and at least [...]

As you can tell, the holiday spirit has already caught up with me! Between business, family fun and organizing an event I am strapped to the max time wise. I am super excited this year! I suggested to my extended family that we give money to someone (or an organization) in need instead of playing “Secret Santa” and drawing names. Frankly, I’m just “blah” lately about buying gifts. Coming from a family of collectors you can imagine what I mean. None of us really need any more “things”. We have what we need and then some. Sometimes we think we “need” that bigger TV or fancier car, but some people need food. Donations to a health organization can help save lives. What’s more important? The TV or someones life? I actually wrote a post on my mom blog about ways to bless others this holiday season. Check it out…I think you may find a few interesting tid bits there Don’t have much cash to spare? How about donating some canned goods to your local food pantry? You never know what neighbor may be in need. Offer babysitting services (cheap or free) so parents can go Christmas shopping without the kids in [...]

Holidays are a fun time in the bloggy world. Everyone’s having a give-away of some sort. It’s the bread and butter of some home business owners. This is when they have their highest peaks of product sales. But what about the poor blogger who just… blogs? Or the home business owner who doesn’t have a “product” but a service? You can still join in on the fun! 5 great give-away’s for those who have no real “product” Offer advertising on your site. Even if your numbers aren’t the greatest, it’s still worth it. All it takes is the right person seeing that ad…..and it cost the “winner’ nothing. Give the winner a “gig” on your blog- either as a one-time guest poster or even for a specified amount of time (example: once a month for 6 months) Purchase a gift card and give that away. Good choices: Walmart, Kmart, Target , Amazon Give away a book or special Christmas ornament Donate $$$ in the winner’s name to a charity of their choice: local dog shelter, Church, cancer or other medical stuff… So there you have it- 5 ways you can still participate in the Blog – Hopping Give away fun! Do you have [...]
